- I think the imagery that resonated with me the most is when she said “and for the driver in the red pick-up truck to let us pass” (Lameris). I was able to relate to this because whenever I am driving and another driver is doing something nice for either me or another driver (which neither are very often) I get a boost of happiness for a little.
- I believe that Lameris is trying to get the reader to try and being more aware of how often a small act of kindness is available to us and when these acts of kindness do happen, it is a way for us to be able to connect with others without actually knowing them. I think she is spot on with this thinking and that all humans should be looking out for each other.
- The poem “Small Kindnesses” can be connected to “This Is Water” quite well. This is because they are both in some way or another talking about being more aware of how often we might lose focus on other human beings and only think of ourselves. They also both believe that we shouldn’t stray away from trying to connect with strangers and instead try and connect with them even if it doesn’t even involve talking to them.

- I had my dad read this and he thought it was really spot on and wished more people went about their life trying to be more kind to others. He owns his own painting business so he spends a lot of time talking to clients and they at times get too caught up in the customer and service talk and tend to forget that at the end of the day they are all just human beings trying to make the most of their lives.
